brand development for LOGAN MALLOCH
"Collaborative and fast work – a safe pair of hands with your brand, whatever direction you need to take it in.
Patrick quickly worked to realign our branding and advertising graphics, he worked with us to ensure that our expectations were met and that we were involved in the process every step of the way.
The work was completed before the deadline and we are extremely happy with the outcome. So much so we put Patrick on a retainer to produce our print advertising and consult on our marketing strategy."
Philip Logan – co-owner of LOGAN MALLOCH

Phil and Brian's shop LOGAN MALLOCH at the foot of Leith Walk is a beautiful space filled with beautiful things (I’d highly recommend popping by next time you’ve a card or gift to buy). They’d commissioned some lovely minimalist typographic branding with simple geometric shapes interwoven when they opened and were delighted with their brand.
As is so often the case however the designer hadn’t equipped them to care for their brand, to have it evolve with their business as it grew, or even use it effectively beyond the initial implementations. They’d been given no files, typefaces or guidelines, just the original signage and a postcard for launch.
The shop (naturally) evolved over time and they felt the original strapline (“Contemporary Scottish Design and Crafts”) no longer reflected the business. Working together and around their feeling that "the shop sells itself"we gently refined the branding to reflect the developed business.
I faithfully reverse engineered their logo and resupplied it – with the new strapline, and the accompanying typeface – in a variety of formats for them to use in their own communications, as well as applying it to a press advert for them. They were delighted and I’ve since produced numerous other adverts and – together – we’ve had a little fun developing their logo further, supplanting the square in the centre with seasonal and/or topical shapes from a gift wrapped box to a traffic cone (to celebrate the end of the tram works).
