You and your project are unique and individual. That’s why my services will always be shaped around your specific goals and needs. All the same, it can be helpful to get an idea of the kinds of work other people have asked for and – crucially – what it cost.
Think of the services below as illustrative: they’re descriptive not prescriptive. They’re also modular: you can put them together in any combination that you find useful, or even pull bits from one and put them together with another. If you want to find out more, get in touch for a quote tailored to your project.

interested in communications consulting“information design” is any kind of design that’s centred on conveying specific information. Examples might be an outcomes report for a third sector funder; a set of infographics for a public awareness campaign; some bespoke data visualisations for your website or something as simple as custom signage for your premises. Have a look at examples of information design in my case studies.
I’ve packaged some common types of information design projects below. They’ve each got a name so you can tell me which one caught your eye. They’re goofy sci-fi names because my logo’s a rocket and that sort of thing makes me smile.
These prices all include two rounds of revisions, and the supply of each finished design as pre-agreed press quality and/or screen format files. These together with the open artwork files – and associated design rights – are yours once the job is paid up.
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t fit any of these examples, that’s cool too. Drop me a line and let’s talk about what you need.
back to topYou’ve got one bit of data/information and you need it made into one finished design.
This could include a table to be made into a single still data visualisation. Or maybe you need a single visual for a key part of a presentation with multiple related – but fixed and unchanging – data sources you need synthesised. Have a look at examples in my case studies.
get in touchYou’ve got between two and ten key bits of data/information that need to be visualised.
Some examples here might be a charity’s annual outcomes report with visuals for your data on identified known key outcomes; or maybe you’ve an event coming up and you need a few first rate banners that communicate what you do to your key audience. Have a look at these and other examples in my case studies.
You get expert help to identify where your data really sings, and then two to ten custom designs that carry your message to your audience.
* “galactic" pricing will scale with your project. I’ll give you a detailed quote before work starts.
You’re not sure how much of your data/information needs visualised, but there’s a lot and you’re pretty sure you need some help figuring out where to start.
This package is designed to cover those cases where you’ve a wealth of data you want to communicate and you don’t know where to start with it, except that it’s got a lot of potential.
You get expert help to sort through your data with an eye on what supports your key message (or even to help identify what possible messages your data actually holds). Together, we’ll break it down into some manageable options and I’ll guide you through deciding which to develop, that’s the initial fee part. We then set the agreed design outcomes for your project, and I make them.
The end point of this package will depend a lot on your data and your goals. Have a look at some relevant examples in my case studies.
* "universal" pricing is based on a £500 initial fee, plus agreed design deliverables from £750 upward, depending on the project. I’ll give you a detailed quote before design work starts.
I’ve packaged some common types of regular graphic design projects below. They’ve each got a name so you can tell me which one caught your eye. They’re goofy sci-fi-ish names because my logo’s a rocket and that sort of thing makes me smile. You can see examples of my graphic design work in my case studies.

your new logo and a single page brand guidelines, from scratch
You need a logo or brand identity designing. I’ll take the time to learn about your business, give you some tools to share your likes and dislikes – visually speaking – and then craft you a beautiful bespoke logo of your very own.
Your spiffy new finished brand comes with a single page outline of how it’s designed to be used. You can use this outline yourself (or with the supplier of your choice) to create beautifully branded… well, anything really. Have a look at some examples in my case studies.
a single development/refresh of your existing brand and/or logo
You already have a logo or brand identity, but it’s not quite doing what you want. I’ll work with you to get to the bottom of exactly what’s not working, identify the way forward, and then do that!
This might mean a light restyle of the existing logo, or exploring some new strap-lines. It might mean developing the logo your friend/neighbour/postman sketched for you (that you love!) into a fully fleshed out brand with clear guidelines on making it shine. Or it could mean designing a special version of your logo to mark an occasion like Pride; or your anniversary. Have a look at some examples in my case studies.
a basic business starter package
To get your business up and running in style, this package builds on from everything you get with “launchpad” but adds creation and supply of:
Printing, hosting and domain purchase are not included: I’m not a print broker or a web company. I can point you in the right direction for where to buy these if you need help. You can expect these third party costs to be from about £50 on upwards, depending on your choices.
Communications is a wide and varied field and we all have different specialisms. I’ll say straight off that if you’re looking for someone to manage your social media output, boost your press profile or write features for you, then I’m not the droid you’re looking for.
Below are three key areas of communications you’ll find I am useful with.
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t fit any of these examples, that’s cool too. Drop me a line and let’s talk about what you need.
Maybe you’ve got a big event coming up. You know you could make a splash with it, but you need help figuring out the how, the when, and the where of that.
Maybe your email newsletter is losing subscribers and you can’t figure out why.
Maybe you’re spending a small fortune on that pack you send to new service users and the feedback says they never open it.
"Patrick quickly worked to realign our branding and advertising, he worked with us to ensure that our expectations were met and that we were involved in the process. The work was completed before the deadline and we were extremely happy with the outcome."
These are all real examples I’ve helped get to the bottom of and turn around. You can read more about some of them in my case studies If you’ve a strategic communications issue you’d like an experienced pair of eyes on, I’d love to help.
Let’s say your business has grown, you’ve hired some new staff and you’re looking at cloud computing platforms. You hear great things about Google Workplace and Microsoft 365, but can’t make heads or tails of which offers the right fit for you.
My cloud literacy and Microsoft 365 certifications and years of experience running Google Workplace implementations can help you pick the tool that’s right for your business. I can then design your migration and deployment, and help you choose the right IT partner to take it all forward.
Same goes if you’re trying to navigate the world of client relationship (CRM) or content management systems (CMS). Years of hands-on experience with major platforms like Nationbuilder, Wordpress, eTapestry, ThankQ and MailChimp, can help you identify the right fit for you.
“If you are seeking someone to manage, oversee and interpret data – visually, creatively or otherwise – then Patrick is your go-to person.”
It all starts with talking through your requirements, researching the best options and mapping out the process and partners to get you where you want to go. Read about some examples in my case studies.
GDPR and data privacy keep you up at night? Or perhaps you’ve a database you know you’re not using effectively.
For seven years, I was contracted as a designer and data curator by the European Parliament, managing the design and data side of Alyn Smith MEP’s constituency comms to the whole of Scotland. Those seven years included the initial development, and the roll-out of GDPR between 2016 and 2018.
“Patrick’s ongoing data management and analytics allow me to reach the maximum number of contacts I can in the most strategic way.”
Whatever scale, getting a handle on the data you have, and how to make the best use of it effectively, and responsibly is transformative. You can find examples in my case studies.
