out-of-the-box campaigns for Jenny Wren Creates

"I'm somewhat of a nightmare customer, never quite know what I want, but can quickly spot what I don't want. Patrick has regularly taken my vague ideas and produced what my brain was trying to vocalise! The few times it's not been spot on he's reworked the item without fuss. He's a pleasure to work with, and I've been proud to show off the design work he's produced."

Jen’s used these 2cm tall knitted jenbunnies to promote her shop at the fringe for years but never on this scale: in past years I've produced a simple label for her, but this was more ambitious.

70 named bunnies were scattered about the city, each shared on twitter and Instagram piggybacking event traffic through hashtags and @ing the event spaces bunnies were "hiding in". Festival goers were invited – both on the physical tag and in social posts – to find and claim the bunnies.

Each bunny was attached to a unique postcard with a cartoon likeness shown holding an infographic sign "they'd made themselves" of one of 70 fringe facts.

I used a naive hand-drawn style for the "bunnies’ art", contrasting with the sharp but playful illustrations – cartoon representations of the bunnies and their signs – a illustration style evolved from Jenny Wren Creates' logo (the teal wren - featured on each card - which is another designer's work).

The reverse of each card carried an explanation of the project and details of our two businesses. Circular stickers promoting the project were also produced and put up around the city.

The campaign was a modest success creating the kind of fun, quirky, individual engagement we’d aimed for. It’s even still fondly remembered in city venues like Mum’s café where Jen’s known to long serving staff as “the Bunny Lady”.
